The Abiding Call of the Internal Darkness Unseen

Darkness calls

From on down the road

Enticing me there

In a voice so bold

I shouldn’t go

So, I’ve been told.

But I will go

All the same

Following the echoes

Of my fading name

An open play

In a crooked game.

In the thick

Of the building dark

A wounded hound

Begins to bark

Descending despair

In a falling arc.

Blackened air

Inside and out

Another scar

I have no doubt

This is all

My life’s about.

Will I return?

I just don’t know

The darkness here

Continues to grow

This just might be

The final blow.
