INFJ is an acronym which stands for Introverted Intuitive Feeling Judging. It is one of a list of sixteen human personality types established by Katherine Briggs and Isabel Myers in their development of the MBTI(Myers Briggs Type Indicator) This was a mother and daughter collaboration by two women who were observers of human behavior and students of the writings of Carl Jung. It is the rarest of all of the personality types. For males, INFJ’s make up about only one percent of the human population And I am one of them.
There are a few basic characteristics of INFJ’s and I will be brief in my relating them here:
1) They want meaning in their life
2) They prefer listening and observing to talking
3) Alone time is an important and vital part of their life
4) Extremely private and cautious about sharing personal information
5) They are given to extensive periods of reflection and feel things deeply.
I have always felt different than those around me. This self-awareness came to me at early age. For the longest time in my life, I did not understand it at all. But there is more understanding now. There is more acceptance now. The why of what and who I am is more complete. I am complex and difficult to know. It takes more than a little effort. Few seem willing to do so. That’s a shame. Because for anyone who would be willing to do so, they would find in me a prized gem, a rare and beautiful example of humanity at its unique finest
